(2009-01-30) At
CIHR, knowledge translation (
KT) is understood to include both end of grant
KT and integrated
KT. In
end of grant KT, the researcher develops and implements a plan for making knowledge users aware of the findings from a research project once available. An
integrated KT (IKT) approach is a different way of doing research that involves knowledge users in the research process itself. Researchers and knowledge users work together to identify research questions, decide on methodology, interpret findings, and disseminate findings.
IKT aims to produce research results that are highly relevant and likely to be used by knowledge users to improve health and the health system. For more information about
KT at
CIHR including programs that support end of grant and integrated
KT please visit the
Knowledge Translation & Commercialization web page.
