How to Partner with CIHR

CIHR's partners help fund research, set research priorities, share best practices in research and its peer review, build research capacity, leverage knowledge translation efforts, and help to make more effective use of resources for research.

Partners are welcomed all across the organization. CIHR is comprised of 13 Institutes, each with its own specialization and mandate for health research. Many partnerships take place through the Institutes, but an increasing number of partnerships are also being built through CIHR's Branches and Initiatives. To fund health research, CIHR uses a variety of funding mechanisms, or "tools." These tools include Operating Grants, Training Awards, and many more. For an introduction to the suite of funding tools available to CIHR, please browse through the "CIHR Toolbox":

Matching Programs

Over the years, CIHR has developed a variety of successful "Matching Programs," in which CIHR dollars are matched by partner dollars at a fixed ratio (for example, 1:1 or 2:1). To find more information on these programs, please click on the links below:
